During
the last legislative session, the Washington Legislature passed a
new law that requires all landlords to give tenants a notice about
mold. Under the new law, the landlord must provide tenants with information
about:
-
Health effects of mold
-
Steps to avoid mold growth
-
How to clean up mold
Information
about mold must be provided to new tenants beginning July 24, 2005.
All current tenants must receive the information no later than January
1, 2006. One way a landlord can comply with the notice requirement
is to give each tenant a copy of the information OR
by simply posting the information in a central location accessible
to all tenants.
If you have
ADOBE READER you can use "Control & Click" on the
"Mold, Moisture and Your Home Guide" to the left of your

come into our Office and pick up a copy - OR - you can go to
http://www.epa.gov/iaq/molds/moldguide.html and download a copy
there.
